About us

Three friends, one shared purpose

It all began in September 2020, in the middle of the pandemic. While helping a Seixal couple going through serious hardship, Sílvia, Marisa and Ruth realised that together they could do much more.

Today 4UnityProject is a non-profit community of friends, family and volunteers that supports people, animals and nature every month.

Our mission: to support the community, the environment, animals and health, with humanity, empathy and sharing.

The founders

Sílvia

Co-founder

The spark: after the first action, she challenged her friends not to stop there and to build an ongoing project.

Marisa

Co-founder

The bridge between the three. She brings the experience of founding and growing the NGO Movimento.1 euro in 2011.

Ruth

Co-founder

A traveller with a lifelong link to volunteering, she ran campaigns in Nepal and India and leads Zen Route, a yoga and meditation project.

What we do

People

Support for families and individuals in need, with goods, food and medication.

Animals

Collections and donations for shelters and associations, plus monthly animal sponsorships.

Nature

Beach clean-ups, zero waste and circular-economy markets.

Cause of the month · October

Collection for the Santa Bárbara Shelter

This month we are supporting the Santa Bárbara animal shelter with supplies for dogs and cats, and donations towards vet bills and medicine.

How the September cause turned out

In September we raised €173 for the Escola de Saberes das Mulheres da Quinta da Princesa.

Community Shop

4UP Market

A circular-economy space: swaps, charity sales and second-hand goods. Everything that comes through the shop supports our causes.

Where: Mercado Municipal da Torre da Marinha, Seixal
Hours: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, 9:30am to 1:30pm.
Swaps: We accept swaps for clothes, food or a small donation. Swaps should be of equal value. We accept food of equal value to the items you choose. Or you can give a small donation per item, which helps keep the shop open.

The shop is run by volunteers. If it is closed, it is because no volunteers are available that day.
